Eugene, OR – Traffic on River Road in Eugene has fully reopened after police determined that a reported suspicious device was a hoax.
According to the Eugene Police Department, officers responded to a report of a suspicious device near River Road at Maxwell and Kourt. As a precaution, both northbound and southbound lanes were closed while authorities investigated.
The Metro Explosives Disposal Unit was called to the scene and conducted a detailed examination of the device. After further investigation, the unit confirmed that the device posed no threat and was determined to be a hoax.
Following the all-clear, roadways in the area were reopened to traffic. Police advised motorists earlier to avoid the area during the response but said normal traffic flow has now resumed.
