Oregon woman, who may have been unaware of her pregnancy, gave birth while on a trip, wrapped the newborn in a sheet with the umbiIical cord still attached, then tossed the baby out of a window, causing fatal injuries

Oregon – An Oregon woman has been arrested on charges of child homicide following the tragic death of her newborn son. The incident occurred last week at a 3-star hotel in the city’s administrative district.
The 18-year-old woman, later identified as Miia, from Oregon, was in France as part of an organization that offers young adults the opportunity to travel and gain real-world experiences. Authorities believe she may have been unaware of her pregnancy, a condition known as “denial of pregnancy.” This condition can lead individuals to be unaware of their pregnancy until labor occurs.
The newborn, found with the umbilical cord still attached, was discovered on the street below the hotel room. Emergency services responded promptly, but the infant was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital due to injuries sustained from the fall.
The organization expressed deep shock and sorrow over the incident, stating, “We are deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic event, and our thoughts are with everyone affected during this difficult time.
We are fully cooperating with local authorities as they continue their investigation. Counseling support has been offered to all group members, and we are extending our support to the impacted families.”
The U.S. Embassy in France has been notified and is closely monitoring the case. A police investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
McQuillin remains in police custody as the investigation continues. Authorities are working to understand the events leading up to the tragedy and to provide support to all those affected.
The baby has been wrapped up in a sheet when it was discovered in the street of the city’s 20th arrondissement district. The new-born was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival due to the seriousness of her injuries. The young mother was taken to the same hospital for treatment following childbirth.
‘I have nothing to comment because I don’t know anything. And that’s pretty much where the family is. That’s all I can say,’ the woman’s grandfather RaIph reportedly said. Other family members declined to comment further.
