Eugene-Springfield Fire responds to structure fire that damaged home, shed and power pole
Eugene, OR – Eugene-Springfield Fire responded to a late-night structure fire on Marlow Lane that damaged a detached shed, a home, and a power pole, officials said.
Fire crews were dispatched shortly after 11:30 p.m. on July 31 after multiple callers reported a fire involving a detached shed that had spread to a residential structure in the 2100 block of Marlow Lane. Callers also reported an electrical transformer had blown in the backyard.
Ladder 6 from the Sheldon station responded as part of a full first-alarm fire assignment. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly located the fire in the rear shed, where flames had extended to a second residential structure on the property.
Crews conducted primary searches of both buildings, located the fire, and worked to extinguish the flames before completing overhaul operations to check for remaining hazards and ensure the structures were safe.
No injuries were reported among residents or firefighters.
Eugene-Springfield Fire Deputy Fire Marshals responded to the scene and began investigating the cause of the fire. The Red Cross was also contacted to assist affected residents.
The response included four fire engines, one ladder truck, two chief officers, an ambulance, Logistics Support, an EMS supervisor, and two Deputy Fire Marshals.
Officials said the coordinated response allowed firefighters to quickly contain the fire and prevent further damage to the surrounding area.
