Brush fire behind Eugene’s Franklin Boulevard prompts multi-unit fire response near railroad tracks
Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a brush fire near the railroad tracks and Willamette River behind 2125 Franklin Boulevard.
The fire was reported in the area during the morning, prompting firefighters to approach the incident from multiple directions due to its location between the railroad tracks and the river.
Engine 13 initially used its deck gun from the Franklin Boulevard side to attack the fire and help slow its progress while other crews worked to reach the area along the railroad tracks.
Brush 15 and Engine 1 were then able to access the fire from the railroad side as firefighters continued their response.
Railroad traffic in the area was temporarily suspended while crews worked at the scene.
Eugene Springfield Fire did not provide information about injuries, the cause of the fire or the extent of damage in its initial update.
