Eugene Springfield Fire Department swiftly responded to several small fires, the largest fire spanned 10 acres and was spreading uphill

Eugene, OR – According to the officials, firefighters were alerted to the incident at approximately 12:31 PM and upon arrival, discovered three rubbish fires along the tracks.
The largest fire spanned 10 acre and was spreading uphill, necessitating immediate action.
For the safety of the operation, both the railroad and Glenwood Blvd had to be temporarily shut down. Fire crews faced challenging conditions as they stretched hundreds of feet of hose to access and combat the fires.
The response team included two engines, a brush truck, a water tender, two battalion chiefs, and one deputy fire marshal, totaling 15 personnel.
The prompt and coordinated effort by the Eugene Springfield Fire Department successfully contained the fires, preventing further spread and potential damage. The cause of the fires is currently under investigation.
