Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire responded to an apartment fire in South Eugene late Friday morning, quickly containing the blaze and rescuing a dog from the scene.
Crews were dispatched just before 11 a.m. on July 25 to a single-story apartment building.
Engine 15 from the South Hills station arrived on scene approximately three and a half minutes after dispatch and reported visible smoke coming from one of the units.
Firefighters swiftly contained the fire to a single room and conducted a search of the apartment. During the operation, a dog named Taquito was rescued and received care from medics on scene. No other injuries were reported.
As crews worked, a section of Willamette Street was temporarily closed due to emergency vehicles and a large 5-inch water supply line laid across the roadway.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
