Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a stolen pickup truck investigators say was involved in a felony hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist seriously injured.
According to police, the vehicle involved is a silver 2010 Chevrolet Silverado HD pickup truck with Oregon license plate 349LKZ. Authorities said the truck has several identifying features, including a modified lift, oversized black wheels and tires, and a silver canopy.
Police said the truck should have damage on the front passenger side from striking the bicyclist.
Investigators said the vehicle was reported stolen in Florence, Oregon, near the North Jetty, between approximately 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on July 4. The theft was not officially reported until July 5 at about 11:44 a.m. through the Lane County Sheriff’s Office online reporting system.
Later on July 4, at approximately 8:41 p.m., police said the stolen truck was involved in a collision with a bicyclist on River Road near Springwood Drive in north Eugene.
The crash caused serious physical injuries to the bicyclist, who is currently recovering with family, according to the Eugene Police Department.
Following the collision, investigators said the driver of the truck fled the area, traveling northbound on Lovelake Road.
Eugene Police Investigations is now seeking information from anyone who may have seen the vehicle, knows its location, or has any information related to the crash or theft.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Eugene Police Department at 541-682-5111 and reference EPD case 26-10185.
Police urged residents not to approach or attempt to stop the vehicle if they locate it and instead to provide information directly to law enforcement.
