Eugene, OR – The City of Eugene announced that the renovation of University Park has been completed, with the 2.81-acre community park now open to the public with upgraded amenities and improvements.

The park renovation project began in September 2025 following extensive public engagement and feedback from community members who helped shape the design. City officials said the updates were made to improve the park experience for residents and better support neighborhood activities.

The completed improvements include a new basketball court foundation, updated surfacing, and new hoop nets. The project also added updated lighting throughout the park, providing improved visibility for visitors.

Other upgrades included a larger playground, improved accessibility features through ADA access and sidewalk improvements, and updates to restroom facilities. The city also added more seating areas and picnic tables to provide additional space for families and visitors to gather.

University Park has long been a popular neighborhood gathering place, with residents regularly using the space for recreation and community activities. The city said the renovation was guided by community input to ensure the improvements reflected the needs and priorities of local residents.

Funding for the project came from the voter-approved 2018 Parks and Recreation Bond, while ongoing care and maintenance of the park will continue to be supported through the 2023 Parks and Recreation Levy.

City officials encouraged residents to visit the renovated park and enjoy the updated facilities. The completion of the project marks another investment in Eugene’s public spaces and recreational areas.
