Police respond to report of armed juvenile and shots fired near Eugene high school

Eugene, OR – Eugene Police are continuing to investigate an armed dispute involving a group of juveniles after responding to reports of gunfire near North Eugene High School on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:39 a.m. on May 29, when officers were dispatched to 2080 River Roadfollowing a report of a dispute among several juveniles, including one individual who was allegedly armed. Witnesses reported that shots had been fired into the air, prompting a swift and coordinated police response.
Multiple units arrived on scene and began contacting individuals believed to be involved in the dispute. As a precaution, North Eugene High School was notified of the incident and was advised to implement security measures while officers searched the area for suspects.
Authorities have confirmed that several juveniles were contacted during the incident; however, the individual believed to have possessed the firearm has not yet been located. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released information about possible charges or whether any injuries occurred.
Eugene Police have asked anyone with information related to the incident to contact the department as they continue to identify and locate the individuals involved.
Residents in the area were briefly urged to remain vigilant while officers worked to secure the scene. Police have not indicated any continued threat to the public at this time.
