Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Department recently recognized two individuals for their heroic actions during a critical incident earlier this year.

Makayla, a civilian and good Samaritan, was presented with a Civilian Life Saving Award at the department’s awards ceremony.

According to EPD, Makayla acted quickly during a life-threatening emergency, stepping in to assist and ultimately helping save a life.

Her bravery was honored in front of family, friends, and members of the department.

Also awarded was Deputy Chief Shawn Adams, who was at the scene with Makayla and provided critical assistance. For his swift and effective response, Adams received the department’s Life Saving Award.

EPD credited the recognition in part to community efforts, media outreach, and social media, which helped connect officials with Makayla after the incident.

The department expressed gratitude for the courage, compassion, and teamwork shown in a moment of crisis.
