Firefighters respond to 3rd alarm blaze in West Eugene, one person injured

Eugene, OR – On Sunday evening, May 11th, Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to a 3rd alarm fire in West Eugene after reports indicated multiple homes were ablaze. The fire was reported just after 5 PM in the 3100 block of Coraly Avenue.
Engine 2 from Whitaker arrived on the scene within five minutes to find heavy flames engulfing two homes, with two additional houses at risk. Firefighters quickly requested additional alarms, bringing more personnel to the scene. Their swift actions extinguished the fire on the exterior of the third home, preventing further significant damage to a fourth property.
One individual was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported. The fire is currently under investigation.
