The Eugene Police Traffic Safety Unit will initiate a focused enforcement campaign targeting speed violations on local freeways and heavily traveled surface streets

Eugene, OR – According to the police officials, this campaign, funded by the Oregon Impact Grant, aims to address significant speeding issues observed in these areas.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that nearly a third of traffic fatalities are speed-related.

Despite advances in vehicle safety and passenger protection, speeding remains a critical danger on the roads.

The grant will provide overtime funding for intensive, high-visibility enforcement throughout the month.

This traffic safety initiative supports Eugene’s Vision Zero goal, which seeks to eliminate deaths and serious injuries resulting from traffic accidents.
