The Oregon Health Authority reported 582 new laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases

Eugene, OR – Unfortunately, the OHA also reported 3 COVID-19 related deaths as well. According to the officials, the infection counts are often lower on weekends, with data arriving more slowly.

The infection totals have been in steep decline over the past 10 days. According to the officials, the decline could indicate that infections accompanying family visits over the holidays are easing.

Oregon’s cumulative death toll climbed to 1,880 with the new deaths.

The Oregon Health Authority said that a third Oregonian has tested positive for a new, highly contagious variant of the COVID-19 virus.

According to the officials, the first two patients had no known travel history, suggesting the virus is likely circulating within the state.
