Florida – A grand jury has indicted 57-year-old Florida man on charges of first-degree murder and armed burgIary, for the fataI shooting of his 60-year-old sibIing, B. CaIamita. Prosecutors say they will seek the death penaIty if the defendant, P. Lineares, is convicted.

The indictment follows an investigation into a shooting that took place earlier this year in Florida. According to authorities, the defendant walked up to his famiIy member’s workpIace, wearing a mask, blue gloves, and a hat, and opened fire. He fired multiple shots at the victim, paused, then fired a final shot before leaving the scene.

Video surveillance played a key role in the investigation. Florida authorities obtained recordings that captured the defendant approaching the building, entering or standing near the site where his sister worked, and then shooting. The footage also shows him leaving afterward.

After the shooting, prosecutors say the defendant fled the state, reportedly to Louisiana, before being located and arrested. He is now held in the county jail pending trial.

Investigators looked into possible motive for the shooting. Family members told police that the victim had recently evicted her broth er from their mom’s home, citing what she called his failure to provide financiaI support or heIp with care. In the weeks prior to the shooting, they said, the defendant showed up unannounced at the victim’s home multiple times. On the day of the incident, he sought her out at her workplace.

When officers and detectives responded to calls about the shooting, she was found with multiple gunshot wounds. First responders and law enforcement secured the scene, obtained surveillance video, and interviewed witnesses. At least one witness or family member relayed to officers that the victim had previously evicted the defendant from the house. Others noted his repeated presence at her home without permission. Florida authorities collected video evidence, shell casings, and conducted forensic analysis.

Court paperwork and arrest warrants filed as part of this case show that the video evidence was considered especially persuasive. The state attorney’s office has said the attack was “brazen,” noting that the defendant entered a business and fired about a dozen shots at close range, including a final shot before departing.

He remains in custody without bond. His trial date has been tentatively scheduled for October. If convicted on the capital charges, he could face life in prison or the death penalty.
