Eugene Police Department conducting targeted speed enforcement throughout March

Published

on

Eugene, OR – Throughout March, the Eugene Police Traffic Safety Unit will conduct targeted speed enforcement on freeways and heavily traveled surface streets as part of the Special Targeted Speed Enforcement Oregon Impact Grant.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly one-third of traffic fatalities are speed-related.

Despite advancements in vehicle safety, speeding remains a significant risk.

The grant provides overtime funding for high-visibility enforcement, aiming to reduce dangerous driving behaviors.

This effort aligns with the City of Eugene’s Vision Zero goal, which seeks to eliminate traffic-related deaths and life-changing injuries through proactive safety measures.
