Eugene, OR – According to the state officials, during this two-day event, no fishing or shellfish licenses are required, including the Combined Angling Tag, Columbia River Basin Endorsement, or Two-Rod Validation.

While fishing and shellfish licenses will be waived, all other fishing regulations still apply, including closures, bag limits, and size restrictions. Participants are encouraged to check the Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations for updated rules, particularly for salmon and steelhead fishing. Be sure to review in-season regulation updates for any changes.

For those seeking the best fishing opportunities, the weekly Recreation Report provides recommendations based on water levels and conditions. Popular fish species during this time include Chinook and coho salmon, while trout will be stocked at various lakes in the Willamette Valley ahead of Thanksgiving.

Beginners can take advantage of the Easy Angling Oregon guide, which offers helpful tips and resources for getting started. Locations near Portland, Bend, Medford, Roseburg, and Lane County provide accessible fishing opportunities for all.

Those interested in crabbing or clamming can visit MyODFW.com for guidance on getting started, as well as important safety tips. Be sure to check ocean conditions and always crab or clam with a friend. For safety, contact the Oregon Department of Agriculture’s Shellfish Safety Hotline at 1-800-448-2474 to confirm the safety of shellfish before collecting them. The ODA monitors shellfish for biotoxins and issues closures when necessary.
