EPD Traffic Safety Unit offers tips to help fans navigate their commutes efficiently with Saturday’s UO Football game expected to bring excitement and heavy traffic to the area

With Saturday’s UO Football game expected to bring excitement and heavy traffic to the area, the Eugene Police Traffic Safety Unit has provided several tips to help fans navigate their commutes efficiently.
- Ride the Bus: First Student school buses offer convenient park-and-ride locations throughout Eugene and Springfield at an affordable price. These buses receive priority access into and out of the Autzen Stadium area on game days, significantly reducing travel time for fans.
- Have a Plan: Pre-plan your travel routes and parking arrangements. Traffic patterns around Autzen Stadium change drastically on game days, limiting free movement through the area. The newly installed Bus and Turn (BAT) lanes will not affect game day traffic; instead, expect adjusted traffic patterns to accommodate the increased volume.
- Obey the Law: Adhere to traffic laws and respect the traffic cone patterns around Autzen Stadium. These patterns are considered traffic control devices and ignoring them or disregarding officers’ directions may result in a $300 citation.
- Be Patient: With approximately 60,000 people expected near Autzen Stadium, getting everyone in and out of the area will take time. Allow ample travel time and anticipate delays to enhance your game day experience.
- Don’t Drink and Drive: Enjoy the game responsibly by avoiding excessive drinking and designating sober drivers. This helps prevent tragedies and ensures a safe experience for everyone.
Traffic Tips: To ease congestion in the Ferry Street/Coburg Road area, motorists not attending the game should consider alternate routes. Options include the Washington/Jefferson Street Bridge, Delta Highway, Cal Young Road, Harlow Road, Goodpasture Island Road, and Green Acres/Crescent Avenue.
