Mom gave her baby a ‘merciful death’ by killing the infant just several months after she tried to murder the child with prescription medication

Charlotte, N. C – The 39-year-old mother, later identified as Meghan, has been taken into custody and charged with murder after reportedly killing her baby, according to police officials. Authorities discovered the 9-month-old child dead after following the mother to her home.
The investigation began last week when a 911 caller reported seeing a person walking without any clothes in the middle of the road. The woman, who appeared to be disoriented, ran away upon seeing the responding officers. The officers then followed her to her home, where they made the disturbing discovery.
The cause of the baby’s death is pending results from the medical examiner’s office, but police officials suspect foul play. During an interview with investigators, the mother reportedly confessed to killing the baby out of mercy. Officials also revealed that she had previously attempted to kill her child in December of the previous year.
In that incident, the woman allegedly tried to poison her child with prescription medication, though this attempt was never reported to authorities. When questioned about the December 2023 incident, she reportedly claimed that God had told her to poison her baby. This case remains under investigation.
