Eugene, OR – Eugene Police Department officials released a statement, saying that this incident occurred at 3:20 p.m. on May 17, 2024.
Officers swiftly reacted to reports of an armed individual at the Big Y Liquor Store located at 2166 W. 6th Avenue.
Witnesses detailed an unsettling encounter with a 23-year-old man later identified as Juan Hernandez.
Hernandez’s alleged attempt to abscond with alcohol caught the attention of store staff, who then noticed a firearm tucked into his pocket as they intervened.
