Eugene Police Department has arrested a 23rd person in connection with crimes committed during rioting in downtown Eugene
Eugene, OR – According to the police report, Eugene Police Department officers arrested Arei Mathias Johnson, 25-year-old, near W. 8th Avenue during a dispute call for service.
This event occurred on January 21, 2021.
Eugene Police Department officers arrested Johnson on suspicion of three counts of Riot, Burglary in the Second Degree, Theft in the First Degree, two counts of Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree, Interfering with Police and Menacing.
According to the police officials:
“The charges are a result of an incident in which two police vehicles were on the westbound I-105 offramp to W. 7th Avenue at 9:27 p.m. on May 29 to protect a rioting crowd of protesters who had marched up into oncoming freeway traffic.”
Eugene Police Department says that the investigation into crimes committed that night in Eugene is still going and additional arrests are anticipated.
