Oregon – The 18-year-old Oregon man, DanieI, was convicted of first-degree murder, r-pe and se-ual abuse after jury found him guilty in connection with the 2022 incident which left 13-year-old girl, MiIana, dead. The defendant, who is scheduled to be sentenced on December 2, reportedly Iured the child to a remote area, where he lived after running away from his home months before, where he se-ually assaulted then and then strangled her. The victim’s body was found in a creek under a blanket.

The investigation process began after the victim’s called 911 and told the dispatcher that her daughter never arrived at school and was missing. The woman and one of the victim’s friends went to the wooded area to look for the 13-year-old, but only found the child’s clothes. Authorities in Oregon then searched the area and reportedly found the victim’s body. The medical examiner told investigators that the victim was se-ually assaulted and strangled. “It was his choice to take a vulnerable girl who trusted him and followed him into the woods and act out his fantasy,” Deputy District Attorney John reportedly said during his closing argument.

The then-16-year-old defendant was taken into custody several days after the victim’s body was found. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that when the 13-year-old was killed, the defendant called his then-girlfriend that something bad happened, but he already took care of it. Authorities also discovered that the victim and the defendant were friends. After Iuring the victim to the remote area and killing her, the defendant then attempted to make an alibi for himself.

He reportedly went to his friend’s home and messaged the 13-year-old victim. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that both the victim and the defendant were together when she was assaulted and killed. The defendant’s lawyer, Mark, argued that his client is innocent and authorities didn’t find the victim’s DNA on his client’s clothing. There was DNA from an unidentified male on her clothes and underneath one of her fingernails. The attorney stated that authorities have the killer’s DNA, they just have to find the man, which is not his client.
