Man arrested after reported armed robbery at Market of Choice in Eugene
Eugene, OR – A 26-year-old man was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon following a reported armed robbery at the Market of Choice on Willakenzie Road, prompting a brief alert to nearby schools as police responded.
According to the Eugene Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 12:47 p.m. on June 4. Officers were dispatched after receiving reports that a man, believed to be armed with a firearm, had stolen items from the grocery store and fled the scene on foot toward a nearby apartment complex.
As a precaution, local schools were notified of the situation while officers searched the area. Police located a suspect matching the description riding westbound near the 2300 block of Cal Young Road. He was approached and safely taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as Dante Ray Kline Darley, 26. Authorities later determined that he had been in possession of a BB gun designed to look like a handgun. Darley was transported to the Lane County Jail and faces several charges, including Robbery in the Second Degree, Menacing, and an existing warrant.
Following the arrest, area schools were updated and informed that the suspect had been apprehended.
