Eugene Police investigate armed robbery at Richard’s Deli, arrest suspect after pursuit in Coos Bay
Eugene, OR – Eugene Police responded to an armed robbery at Richard’s Deli, located at 3666 W. 11th Avenue, at 9:45 p.m. on March 6. A suspect entered the deli, held employees at gunpoint, and stole cash before fleeing the scene.
Detectives from the Eugene Police Property Crimes Unit took over the investigation and identified Andre Kevin Outland, 61, of Coos Bay, as a suspect.
After securing a search warrant from a judge, investigators coordinated with the Coos Bay Police Department and other Oregon coastal law enforcement agencies to track Outland’s whereabouts.
Authorities located a vehicle associated with Outland in Coos Bay.
When Coos County Metro SWAT attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to yield, prompting a pursuit. Officers eventually stopped the vehicle and took Outland into custody.
Metro SWAT then secured a residence linked to Outland, allowing EPD detectives to execute their search warrant.
During the search, law enforcement recovered multiple pieces of evidence connected to the robbery.
Outland was booked on charges of first-degree robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, and menacing.
