ESD crews respond to house fire in east Springfield, contain flames to garage with no injuries reported
Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a house fire in east Springfield on the morning of March 9.
Firefighters were dispatched at 8:12 a.m. following reports of a fire in the garage of a home located in the 6500 block of E Street.
Crews arrived within approximately four minutes to find flames in the garage and heavy smoke spreading throughout the house.
Firefighters entered the home to conduct a search and encountered thick, dark smoke on the second floor.
Despite the challenging conditions, they successfully contained the fire to the garage, with only minor extension into the first floor.
However, the home sustained extensive smoke damage.
All occupants were safely accounted for, and no injuries were reported.
Fire investigators are currently interviewing witnesses and working to determine the cause of the fire.
