Eugene police chief offers tips to protect home surveillance during burglaries targeting Asian Americans
Eugene, OR – Eugene Police Chief Chris Skinner attended a forum on October 23 addressing a series of residential burglaries targeting Asian Americans in Eugene, across the United States, and in multiple jurisdictions within Oregon.
During the forum, a question arose about how to protect home surveillance cameras from techniques used by perpetrators, such as signal jammers, Wi-Fi disconnection, or cutting power.
Chief Skinner advised that cameras be hardwired to maintain constant connectivity and paired with an on-premises archiver.
For added security, he recommended using cameras that can store footage on memory cards, which typically hold up to one week of recordings, ensuring continued surveillance even if the network goes down.
