Sprinkler system controls apartment fire in Eugene residential high-rise
Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to a fire at a residential high-rise Tuesday morning after a fire alarm was reported at 1180 Patterson.
According to officials, the call came in at 10:36 a.m., prompting the dispatch of Battalion 1, Engine 1, Engine 13, and Tower 2. Engine 13 arrived first and reported a sprinkler-controlled fire inside an apartment on the fifth floor.
The incident was subsequently upgraded to a full first alarm, bringing additional engines, a truck company, and a chief officer to the scene. Firefighters initiated fire attack operations and conducted a primary search of the involved apartment.
Authorities said the fire was declared under control at 10:52 a.m. No victims were located during the search, and the fire was confined to the affected unit.
While the sprinkler system helped limit the spread of flames, officials reported that multiple residents were displaced. Extensive water damage was observed on floors below the fire apartment. The cause of the fire has not been released.
