Eugene, OR –  Eugene police arrested a man in connection with a stabbing that left a young adult injured Sunday evening, according to the Eugene Police Department.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 5:18 p.m. on February 9 to the area of W. 8th Avenue and Lincoln Street following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, police located the victim, described as a man in his 20s suffering from an arm injury. Authorities said a bystander had already intervened, applying a tourniquet in an effort to control bleeding before emergency responders reached the scene.

Police officers immediately took over medical care, placing a second tourniquet while awaiting the arrival of fire and medical personnel. Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded shortly afterward, providing further treatment before transporting the victim to a local hospital. Officials reported that the injuries were non-life-threatening.

While some officers remained at the scene to assist the victim and secure the area, additional units initiated a search for the suspect. Police indicated that investigators initially had limited information regarding the individual involved. However, officers were able to develop a suspect description based on available details gathered during the early stages of the investigation.

Authorities said the suspect was later located after returning to the vicinity of W. 6th Avenue and Lawrence Street. Officers, including a K9 unit, moved in and safely took the individual into custody without incident.

The suspect was identified as 54-year-old Adam Sanuel Charles. Following his arrest, Charles was transported to Lane County Jail. According to police, he was lodged on multiple charges, including Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, and Supplying Contraband.

Police have not released additional details about the events leading up to the stabbing, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities did not specify whether the victim and suspect were known to each other.
