ESF celebrates progress as young women gain hands-on experience at annual fire camp
Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire is marking the halfway point of its annual fire camp, where 16 young women are gaining first-hand experience in fire service skills and teamwork.
Throughout the week, participants have been learning critical techniques such as hose management, vehicle extrication, and ladder operations.
The camp is designed to introduce young women to the fire service profession in a supportive, hands-on environment, while also building confidence and leadership skills.
Organizers expressed pride in the campers’ progress so far and look forward to the rest of the week as the group continues to train, grow, and take on new challenges.
The department emphasized its commitment to mentoring the next generation and encouraging more women to explore careers in emergency services.
