Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Department has released new details regarding a pedestrian-vehicle collision that occurred on the evening of June 6 at approximately 8:05 p.m. near the intersection of W. 11th Avenue and Seneca Road.

The crash involved a 31-year-old pedestrian and a 29-year-old driver operating a Chevrolet G30 van. According to reports, the pedestrian was reportedly lunging at vehicles and stepped directly in front of the van.

The driver continued traveling to the intersection of W. 11th and Bailey Hill Road, where they stopped and immediately called 911 to report the incident. Witnesses also followed the van after the collision.

Authorities confirmed that neither speed nor driver intoxication were factors contributing to the crash. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for injuries sustained in the incident.

Earlier, the Eugene Police Department had advised motorists to avoid the area around W. 11th Avenue and Seneca Road due to the crash and subsequent investigation. Westbound traffic on W. 11th near Seneca was closed for an extended period while the Major Collision Investigation team conducted their work.
