Man admitted to killing his speciaI needs family member before carrying the remains to a remote area, leaving nothing but ash, only to then claim he shot him by mistake; charged
Houston, TX – A 68-year-old Texas dad, MichaeI, was taken into custody and later charged with murder and tampering with evidence after confessing to killing his special needs son over the weekend. The father reportedly admitted to shooting and killing his son before taking his body and placing it in a wood pile where he crremated the remains. Authorities in Texas say the defendant reportedly admitted to killing his special needs son, but claims it was an accident after reportedly thinking the victim was an lntruder.
The fatal shooting occurred over the weekend while the shooter and the 20-year-old victim, Mark, were spending time together at their wood cabin. The investigation process began after teh 68-year-old man called 911 and told the dispatcher that he mistakenly killed his special needs son by shooting him with a shotgun. The responding officers reportedly made contact with the shooter, who then took them to the remote area where he crremated his son’s remains.
Authorities said that the victim’s remains were found upon the execution of a search warrant. Authorities in Texas released a statement, saying that the victim’s bones appeared to have been burned based on charring and the area they were found in, was heavy with soot and ash. During an interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly admitted to shooting the victim, but claiming it was an horribIe accident. The defendant then put his son’s body on a tractor and moved it to a remote are where he burned the remains.
The defendant reportedly put the victim’s remains on a wood pile only to then start a fire and destroy the remains. The defendant was charged with multiple charges following his arrest and is now being held on $20 million bond.
