Central Lane 911 urges public to use fireworks reporting app during July 4th celebrations

Published

on

Eugene, OR – Per reports, the Central Lane 911 braces for an influx of calls reporting fireworks, one of the busiest shifts of the year as 4th July is right around the corner. To manage this surge and ensure capacity for other critical calls, authorities are encouraging the public to use the Fireworks Alert app for reporting non-emergency fireworks incidents. The app, available at Fireworks Alert, offers IOS and Android versions.

Residents are reminded that calling 911 for fireworks should be reserved for situations where someone is injured or property is actively being damaged. The emergency line is exclusively for reporting immediate threats to life or property. Non-emergency fireworks reports might result in extended hold times and delayed responses, especially for lower-level calls like noise complaints and concerns about illegal fireworks.

For reporting non-emergency crimes, such as noise complaints, suspicious activity, or illegal fireworks not in progress, residents are advised to use the appropriate business lines:

For reporting in-progress illegal fireworks:

  • Eugene: 541-682-5111
  • Springfield: 541-726-3714
  • Lane County unincorporated areas: 541-682-4150

Using these designated channels will help Central Lane 911 provide timely responses to all calls for service during the busy holiday period.
