The Eugene Police Department is inviting the local community to join their volunteers in policing program
Eugene, OR – According to the police officials, the Eugene Police Department’s Volunteers in Policing Program plays a crucial role in enhancing crime prevention and community policing initiatives through citizen partnership.
Volunteers gain firsthand insights into law enforcement operations, offering a unique perspective from behind the scenes.
The program actively recruits volunteers from diverse demographics, welcoming individuals aged 18 and above from varying income levels, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds.
By involving community members in the design, prioritization, and delivery of police services, the department fosters a stronger bond between law enforcement and the public, embodying the principles of community policing.
In 2023, 77 volunteers dedicated a combined total of 13,850 hours to the department and the community.
This volunteer service provided an estimated added value of $440,430, calculated based on the national average value of volunteer time established by the Independent Sector, currently valued at $31.80 per hour.
