Two arrested in armed robbery at Willamette Street apartment complex

Eugene, OR – Two individuals were taken into custody early Wednesday morning following an armed robbery at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Willamette Street, according to the Eugene Police Department.
At approximately 1:41 a.m. on July 24, Eugene Police responded to a report of a robbery at 1180 Willamette Street. According to initial information, a man in his 40s met with a woman on the upper level of the parking structure and gave her money. A dispute followed, and the woman fled with the cash into a nearby stairwell, with the victim pursuing her.
The woman, later identified as 22-year-old Merceydes Lynn Weavill, reportedly called for assistance from a man — 24-year-old Daylon Michael Clarke — who arrived at the scene and displayed a firearm. The victim, who was also armed, drew his own weapon, prompting Clarke to flee down the stairwell.
Eugene Police officers responded in emergency mode. Clarke initially refused to come out, but an EPD crisis negotiator was able to de-escalate the situation and convince both suspects to surrender. They were taken into custody without incident at 3:33 a.m.
Following the arrests, a search warrant was obtained and executed at the apartment, resulting in the recovery of a firearm.
Clarke and Weavill were transported to Lane County Jail and face the following charges:
-
Daylon Michael Clarke: Robbery in the First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Weapon, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon
-
Merceydes Lynn Weavill: Robbery in the First Degree and Prostitution
No injuries were reported during the incident.
