Three responders injured in Oakridge Fire & EMS medic unit rollover crash on Highway 58
Oregon – On May 17, 2025, just before 2:00 p.m., an Oakridge Fire & EMS medic unit overturned along Highway 58 near milepost 30 while returning from a patient transport. Three responders were inside the vehicle at the time.
Mutual aid crews from Lowell Rural Fire Protection District, Dexter Rural Fire Protection District, and Upper McKenzie Rural Fire Protection District arrived swiftly and successfully extricated all occupants from the overturned vehicle. Eugene Springfield Fire medic units provided immediate transport for the injured responders.
One responder remains in critical but stable condition, while two others sustained minor injuries and were transported for further evaluation. The cause of the accident is under investigation. No patients were in the ambulance during the incident.
Eugene Springfield Fire will provide ambulance coverage for Oakridge as the department manages recovery efforts. Oakridge Fire & EMS, a primarily volunteer department with only three paid staff, expressed that the crash has deeply affected both the department and the local community.
Officials have asked for patience and understanding during this challenging time.
