Georgia – A Georgia parent was taken into custody last week in connection with the death of her 8‑month‑oId chiId, and now stands accused in what Georgia authorities describe as the death of two of her babies. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and local law enforcement, the latest case began when the lnfant’s body was discovered in Jan. at a home in Georgia. The baby — identified as CaIeb and as the defendant’s child — was found unresponsive at the woman’s family member’s residence. He was rushed to a hospital, but died shortly thereafter.

Investigators say this child’s death prompted a full-scale inquiry. Over the following months, the GBI, together with the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), reviewed the circumstances of his death and discovered a troubling connection to a prior case involving the defendant.

Court records show the defendant is now charged not only in the death of the infant from earlier this year, but also with the 2021 death of an earlier lnfant chiId, Miccah, who was 7 months old at the time. That earlier death had originally been ruled undetermined.

According to a grand‑jury warrant, in the 2021 case the defendant “with malice and forethought” allegedly caused the death by obstructing the child’s airways. Body‑camera footage from the group home where they lived — and where the earlier infant was found unresponsive — shows law‑enforcement officers describing the defendant’s demeanor as unusually calm or “nonchaIant” in the moments after the child’s death.

In the 2025 case, investigators say the lnfant died after being deprived of oxygen, resulting from actions that caused “excessive physical and mental pain,” according to the arrest warrant for the defendant.

When Georgia authorities confronted the defendant about the child’s death earlier this year, a relative told investigators that the defendant had dropped the baby off at their house and covered the child’s car seat with a blanket — obscuring him from view. The relative said when they uncovered the baby, the child’s lips were blue, and he was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Throughout the investigation, reports say the defendant repeatedly changed her account of what happened that day. Officials say the timeline she provided was inconsistent, raising additional suspicion as investigators pieced together evidence.

At the time of her arrest, she was held without bond at the county jail. Charges against her include malice murder, felony murder and first‑degree cruelty to children — two counts each, one set for each of the two infants who died under her care

Georgia authorities say the investigation remains active and they continue to urge anyone with relevant information to come forward. Authorities also said the mother sufocated her 8‑month‑old son by placing him in a car seat with a blanket over his head and a diaper partially covering his face, which led to the child’s death. In the earlier case, the mother’s 7‑month‑old son was found unresponsive after a bath, and investigators described her behavior as unusually calm while lifesaving measures were being performed. Both deaths prompted criminal charges, including maIice murder, feIony murder, and crueIty to chiIdren.

This case raises serious questions about past child welfare interventions and oversight — including what happened after the 2021 death — and whether earlier signs of neglect or danger were missed. Officials with DFCS have confirmed involvement in both cases and say they are cooperating fully with law enforcement as efforts continue to understand what led to these tragic deaths.
