Man killed his girlfriend by ‘putting one right in the back of her head’ while her daughter was home after asking the woman ‘if she was sure that she was not going to become his wife and she stated yes’; charged

Jacksonville, FL – The 57-year-old Florida man was taken into custody and later charged with first-degree murder shortly after he killed his girlfriend. The defendant, who is now being held without bond, reportedly killed the woman at the home they shared while her daughter was home. The victim, NataIie, was killed after she told the shooter that ‘she doesn’t want to become his wife. According to the victim’s daughter, the defendant reportedly killed her mom after the victim told the man that ‘she was sure that she wasn’t going to wed him’.
The fatal shooting occurred over the weekend at the couple’s shared home. The shooter and his girlfriend were drinking at friend’s home when they got into an argument. Shortly after, the couple went home only to continue arguing. The victim’s daughter told investigators that she heard the couple fighting before she heard a gunshot. The unidentified witness then went downstairs and realized that her mother was bIeeding.
The unidentified witness also told investigators that the defendant reportedly admitted to shooting her parent because ‘she pushed him too far’. The shooter also told the daughter that he asked her mom ‘if she was sure that she was not going to marry him and she stated yes.’ Shortly after, the man grabbed his gun and shot the woman in the head, killing her. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The couple had been in a relationship since 2021 and were known to frequently fight and argue’when they drank alcohol together, according to relatives who spoke to authorities.
The defendant then put his gun on the kitchen counter and stepped outside to wait for the responding officers after telling his girlfriend’s daughter to call 911. Police Chief Douglas released the following statement: “Our hearts go out to the victim and her loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, there are resources to support you. Reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or a local domestic violence hotline. You are not alone.”
