License plate reader system helps Eugene Police locate missing person

Published

on

Eugene, OR – Eugene Police used their license plate reader system to help locate a missing person in September.

In early August, a woman from another state reported that a family member in his late 30s had not been in contact as usual. She provided information about his vehicle, which was added to a missing person report.

By September 9, the family member still had not called or used money normally sent via a cash app. Police entered the vehicle into the license plate reader system, and on September 13, an alert was generated.

Officers quickly located the vehicle on the 2800 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, where the man, who had lost his phone, was found safe and healthy. He had planned to contact his family.

Police credited the license plate reader system with helping resolve the case quickly and safely.
