Heavy fire at Eugene home prompts swift response, no victims found

Eugene, OR – Early on June 20, Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to a significant house fire in the 1000 block of West 3rd Avenue.
The call came in around 1:18 a.m., with neighbors reporting heavy flames visible from the roof and possible occupants inside.
ESF dispatched a full response including four engines, one ladder truck, and two chiefs.
Engine 2 from the Whiteaker station arrived quickly and began firefighting efforts.
Tower 2 crews made entry to search all accessible areas for victims, but due to intense heat and zero visibility, the decision was made to withdraw for safety reasons.
Water was then applied externally using Engine 2’s deck gun.
Once the main body of the fire was controlled, firefighters re-entered to complete their search. Additional resources were brought in due to the extended operation. No human or animal victims were found, and no injuries were reported.
The fire was fully extinguished, and the investigation into the cause is ongoing by ESF Fire Marshals in coordination with Eugene Police.
