Eugene Springfield Fire responds to gas leak report at Santa Clara commercial building on Division Avenue

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a commercial alarm after a reported gas leak at a building in the Santa Clara area on Division Avenue.

According to officials, building occupants reported a smell of gas at the OCCU location and alerted emergency responders.

Fire crews investigated the source of the odor and determined it was likely isolated to a rooftop HVAC unit.

Once the building was deemed safe, the scene was turned over to NW Natural for further assessment and handling of the situation.

Officials noted that a full commercial alarm response included four engines, two trucks, two chiefs, and one ambulance.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and operations were completed after the area was secured.
