Eugene city officials ask for donations and volunteers to support warming centers
Eugene, OR – The City of Eugene and Egan Warming Centers are asking the community for donations and volunteers to help keep the warming centers open during the ongoing cold weather.
Officials said homeless residents rely on volunteers to operate the centers on the coldest nights. The city is requesting donations of warm clothing, including hats, gloves, sweatshirts, jackets, and blankets.
Donations can be dropped off at any St. Vincent de Paul location, and should be placed in a bag marked for Egan Warming Centers.
With below-freezing temperatures expected to continue, the city is also encouraging people to consider training as Egan volunteers. Training sessions are scheduled for Jan. 22 and Jan. 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. via Zoom.
Officials thanked the community for supporting the warming centers and helping keep the resource available for those in need.
