Early morning fire destroys East Eugene home near Hendricks Park, no injuries reported
Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to a fully involved house fire early Friday morning in the 2800 block of Floral Hill Drive near Hendricks Park in East Eugene.
The incident began around 7:30 a.m. on July 26, when dispatch received reports of smoke in the area, initially believed to be a possible brush fire. Multiple callers soon reported visible flames, prompting the response to be upgraded to a house fire.
Access to the scene was delayed due to the narrow, winding roads common in older hillside neighborhoods. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a home fully engulfed in flames, surrounded by heavy brush and located off the roadway with an overgrown driveway. Crews used saws to gain access, which slowed initial suppression efforts.
The primary focus of the operation quickly shifted to preventing the fire from spreading into nearby brush and trees. Thanks to cool morning temperatures and high humidity, the risk of a broader wildfire was minimized. The fire was ultimately contained to 1/4 acre.
The structure was declared a total loss. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
