Woman charged with DUII and reckless driving after allegedly driving wrong way and nearly causing multiple crashes in Eugene
Eugene, OR – A 33-year-old Washington woman was arrested in Eugene after allegedly driving the wrong way on a one-way street, swerving into oncoming traffic and nearly causing multiple crashes while driving under the influence.
Eugene police said they received numerous reports at approximately 5:13 p.m. on October 25 about a Ford Maverick driving dangerously. One caller reported that the driver appeared to be falling asleep behind the wheel.
The vehicle was later reported in a parking lot in the 4100 block of West 11th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found the Ford Maverick high-centered on a barrier, with two wheels in the air.
The driver, identified as Emily Lorene Pollock of Vancouver, Washington, told officers she had been trying to reach the McDonald Theatre for a concert. She said she had left her Airbnb on Polk Street but did not know how she ended up at the location where officers found her vehicle.
According to the Eugene Police Department, Pollock refused to perform field sobriety tests but agreed to take a breathalyzer test. The test measured her blood alcohol concentration at 0.23%, nearly three times Oregon’s legal limit of 0.08% for adult drivers.
Officers also found two empty bottles of hard alcohol inside the vehicle.
Pollock was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) and reckless driving, police said.
