ESF crews respond to heavily involved house fire in Springfield, contain flames to property of origin

Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a reported house fire early Thursday morning after neighbors reported seeing flames extending above a home in Springfield.

At approximately 12:42 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 1100 block of 36th Street following multiple 911 calls about the fire.

Neighbors initially reported seeing flames above a house but were unsure what was burning. A first-alarm assignment was sent to the scene.

Firefighters arrived to find a single-family residence heavily involved in fire and immediately began working to suppress the flames while searching the home for possible occupants.

The residence was found to be unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Several nearby outbuildings were exposed to the flames when firefighters arrived, but crews were able to contain the fire to the property where it started and prevent it from spreading to neighboring structures.

No residents or firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation by the Eugene Springfield Fire Marshal’s Office in coordination with Springfield Police.
