Eugene Springfield Fire drill field busy with live fire training, recruit exercises, and equipment testing
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Springfield Fire reported a highly active training day at its drill field, where multiple crews participated in live fire evolutions, equipment testing, and operational readiness exercises.
Officials said Bend Fire & Rescue conducted live fire evolutions with recruits, while ESF Recruit Class 35 completed its own training exercises on-site. On-duty crews also took part in wildfire hose evolutions as part of ongoing preparedness training.
Additional activity included Brush 13 undergoing its annual testing and pump evaluation, along with Engine 10 reloading hose following annual hose testing completed by logistics staff.
The department noted that the variety of simultaneous training operations reflects routine readiness work designed to maintain firefighter skills and ensure equipment reliability. Officials added that what may appear as a busy day is part of standard midweek training operations across the agency.
