Eugene, OR – Two people were taken into custody after a narcotics investigation by the Eugene Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit led to the seizure of fentanyl, cash, and firearms.

According to Eugene Police, officers observed a meeting between 34-year-old Eugene resident Reilly Quinn Slater and 28-year-old Salem resident Danitza Guadalupe Morales during an ongoing investigation in which Slater was believed to be a local fentanyl dealer.

After the meeting concluded, officers stopped Morales and Slater at separate locations.

Morales was found in possession of eight individual packages of fentanyl totaling approximately 5.2 ounces and about $4,900 in cash. Slater was found with five individual packages containing approximately 4.5 ounces of fentanyl, more than $300 in cash, scales, and drug packaging materials. Officers also seized two loaded handguns from Slater.

In total, investigators seized approximately 9.7 ounces of white powdered fentanyl. Police noted that fentanyl sells for about $1,000 per ounce when purchased in large quantities, while smaller street-level amounts often sell for $10 to $20 for one-tenth of a gram.

The Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit, which conducted the investigation, is funded by the Community Safety Payroll Tax. The unit works with other community services to address crime, improve safety responses, support investigations, and connect people with services.
