City of Eugene highlights Public Space Team efforts to address homelessness and community impacts
Eugene, OR – The City of Eugene reported that its Public Space Team continues to work to keep the city safe, clean, and livable while addressing the impacts of homelessness on both unhoused residents and the wider community.
According to the city’s 2025 Community Survey, homelessness remains the top concern for residents.
The cross-departmental team provides structured support for responding to community needs and requests related to the unhoused crisis.
In the first nine months of 2025, the team shared more than 2,000 resource cards with unhoused individuals, providing information on available social services.
City crews also removed 7,074 yards of debris and 758 abandoned shopping carts from public property, improving safety in parks, travel lanes, and stormwater systems.
Additionally, Neighborhood Service Officers responded to over 7,100 work orders, addressing issues such as vehicles stored on streets or park land, structures in the public right of way, and other parking-related violations throughout Eugene.
