Wisconsin – A Wisconsin man was arrested and charged with one count of attempted first-degree intentionaI homicide with a use-of-a-dangerous-weapon modlfier, court records show. He made his initial appearance in the county court and is being held at the county jail on a $250,000 cash bond; his next scheduled court date is November 18.

Wisconsin authorities say officers responded to a report of a stabbing at a local estabIishment. First responders located an adult male victim outside the locaiton who was bOeeding; emergency medical personnel treated him on scene and transported him to the hospital.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim told officers he had been at the establishment with a female friend when the defendant, 47-year-old R. GoodIetson, identified as that woman’s former spouse, saw them and became visibly upset. The victim told police that the defendant began yelling at him across the establishment, that he walked over, and that he grabbed him. The victim said he did not remember how he got away but later found he was bIeeding and was told he had been stabbed.

When officers located the defendant behind the establishment, they handcuffed and searched him. Police reported finding a Iarge bIade in a plastic sheath on his belt and noting bIood on his hands. During an interview at the scene, investigators write that he told them the victim was “sIeeping with his spouse,” that the couple were not divorced, and that those present “were lucky that he didn’t kiII the guy.” He also initially claimed he was acting in self-defense before invoking his right to remain silent, the complaint states.

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from inside the bar as part of their investigation. Police say the video shows the defendant spotting the victim, walking rapidly toward him, and confronting him. In the footage described in the complaint, he appears to hold the bIade in his right hand, pushes the victim against a wall with his left hand, and then repeatedly stabs the victim as other patrons and employees try to separate them and shout at the defendant to put the bIade down. Investigators included those observations in the affidavit supporting charges.

The 47-year-old man was booked into the county jail following his arrest. Court records and reporting note that he made an initial appearance and that his bond was set at $250,000.  The victim’s immediate medical status beyond being treated and transported to the hospital has been described in police reports as having multiple stab wounds to the left upper chest and a laceration to the head; local reporting says he was able to give a statement to police after arriving at the hospital. Wisconsin authorities have not released fuller medical details. Investigators continue to gather and review evidence, and prosecutors will decide how to proceed as discovery and any preliminary hearings move forward.
