Mom cIaims she briefIy Ieft her 2-year-old aIone and, when she returned, found the chiId screaming after her partner, who didn’t get along with the child’s bioIogicaI dad, caused severe injuries with boiIing Iiquid: DA
Texas – A Texas man and woman were taken into custody last week after a thorough investigation revealed that the woman’s chiId, 2 suffered severe injuries from an incident involving boiIing water. Both face charges of injury to a chiId with intent to cause serious bodiIy injury or mentaI impairment.
The incident occurred between earlier this year at the family’s home. The mother, 32-year-old Tyresha, reported to Texas authorities that she had been bathing her chiId while her partner, 31-year-old Davien, was in the kitchen preparing dinner. After briefly leaving the bathroom, she heard the child scream and found him with severe burns. The man was allegedly seen walking away from the scene, and a pot of nearly empty water was found in the bathroom sink. Investigators determined that the burns were consistent with hot Iiquid poured from an elevated position, resulting in gravity-assisted flow patterns.
Despite the severity of the burns, the mother did not seek immediate medical attention for her child. She later admitted to using a first aid kit to treat the injuries, fearing that Child Protective Services would intervene. Additionally, she disclosed that the man had threatened her with a firearm, warning her to keep the incident a secret. She also revealed that he had a strained relationship with the child’s biological father, which may have contributed to the abuse.
Medical professionals at the Center for Miracles confirmed that the child sustained third-degree burns on his head, neck, torso, and back, along with a healing arm injury that required surgical intervention. The boy’s injuries were left untreated for an extended period, leading to concerns about neglect and abuse.
Both defendants were arrested and booked into the county jail. The mother’s bond was set at $250,000, while her partner’s bond was set at $300,000. The case has drawn public attention due to the severity of the abuse and the failure to seek timely medical care for the child. Texas authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working to ensure the child’s safety and well-being.
This case highlights the importance of vigilance and timely intervention in cases of suspected child abuse. Community members are encouraged to report any signs of abuse or neglect to local authorities to protect vulnerable children from harm.
