Florida – A Florida woman was taken into custody earlier this week and charged with first-degree murder and discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a schooI following the fataI shooting of her parent, 75-year-old Lerroy in Florida.

According to Florida authorities, surveillance footage from nearby residences and the school captured the events leading up to the shooting. The footage showed the victim outside his home when his famiIy member, 43-year-old L. Scot, driving by, approached him in the driveway. After a brief interaction, the victim began to walk away. The woman then drew a firearm from her waistband, followed him down the driveway, and fired the first shot at his back from only a few feet away. As he fell to the ground, she fired at him three more times.

The woman then fled the scene in her vehicle and was located approximately two miles away at about 9:30 a.m.. During an interview with police, she admitted to shooting her parent. She stated that she confronted him to tell him to stop bothering her, to which he responded to ‘get out of his face,’ before walking away. The woman said she did not recall how many times she shot at her parent but intended to shoot herself afterward. However, she decided that it was not right and discarded the gun.

The defendant was a teacher at local middle schooI at the time of her arrest. Following the incident, the school district notified parents that she had been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. The district assured parents that the safety and well-being of students were their highest priorities and that a certified, full-time substitute teacher had been assigned to her classes. Additionally, on-campus counseling services were made available to students and staff.

She is currently being held without bond. Florida authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Due to the proximity of the incident to the middle school, the school was placed on a temporary lockdown as a safety precaution. At no time was there a threat to the campus, and the lockdown was lifted once the situation was resolved.

This tragic event has shocked the local community, as neighbors described the family as friendly and well-known in the area. The investigation is ongoing, and Florida authorities are working to determine the full circumstances leading to the fatal shooting.
