License plate reader alert leads Eugene Police to arrests after early-morning attempted vehicle break-ins
Eugene, OR – On August 22 at 3:01 a.m., a license plate reader camera alerted Eugene Police officers to a stolen vehicle near Kinsrow.
Shortly afterward, multiple calls were received reporting a group of four males dressed in all black attempting to break into vehicles in the area.
Officers located the four individuals on Centennial Drive near Aspen Street.
Following an investigation, 19-year-old Michael Allen Gutierrez Jr. was arrested for attempted unlawful use of a vehicle and second-degree criminal mischief.
A 15-year-old male juvenile was also taken into custody for an unrelated, outstanding warrant.
The two other juveniles, in their mid-teens, were released at the scene.
Eugene Police continue to encourage residents to report suspicious activity and remain vigilant in protecting their property.
